The funeral procession for Douglas “Duggy” Nelson, a longtime officer and firefighter, leaves the Chetek United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 20. The procession, escorted by an assortment of emergency vehicles, carried Nelson’s casket on the Chetek Fire Department’s restored 1940 fire engine, above. A man who garnered much respect from the community because of the respect and patience he gave for all those around him, was remembered this past week after his death on Tuesday, June 16.
Lt. Ray Parr, with the Chetek Police Department for just under 11 years, has resigned, along with 8-year-old canine officer Ace. Taking the lieutenant position will be Officer Ron Ambrozaitis.
