Harold Fillmore, 79, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home on Friday, July 6, 2012.
He was born Aug. 17, 1932, in the Sheldon area. He was raised on a farm and began driving a milk truck as his first job. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 17. Harold served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1953. After he married, he and his wife had seven children.
Harold enjoyed bowling, watching TV, eating out with family and telling stories of his days in the Navy and as an over-the-road trucker.
Harold is survived by three daughters, Lynn (Willy) Lipps, of Alaska, Laurie (Matt) Williams, of Alaska, and Luona (Ben) Pittman, of Mississippi; four sons, Bret Fillmore, John (Sheila) Fillmore, Mike (Kim) Fillmore and David (Arlene) Fillmore, all of Wisconsin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Glen (the late Dorothy) Fillmore, of New Mexico, Paul (Elaine) Fillmore, of Minnesota, and Lloyd (Betsy) Fillmore, of New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Fillmore.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire, with Pastor Timothy Warner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
