Eunice I. “Eunie” Renz (nee Schofield), 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2012, after the onset of acute leukemia.
Eunice was born May 11, 1930, the daughter of Fern and Myrtle (Garner) Schofield. This brave lady faced down an extremely aggressive form of leukemia with optimism and smiles rather than self-pity. Her approach to this terrible disease was an inspiration. Eunice left this world with no fear, anxiety, or tears. When it was time, she simply told her loving family gathered around her bedside that she was ready. And she was. She had a large fan club at the Carbone Cancer Center, where she always met the staff with laughter and smiles.
She was a loving mom to Greg (Paula) Renz, Randy Renz, Kathy (Michael) DeLong, Michael Renz, Rhonda Killerlain, and the late Tim Renz; grandmother to Tara Wofford, Michelle Royer, Mindy DeLong, Daniel Renz, Allison Renz, Amber Killerlain, Jordan Killerlain and Samantha Renz; and great-grandmother to Vanessa Renz and James Royer. Eunice will also be missed by three brothers, Ray (Betty) Schofield, Bill (Darlene) Schofield and Art (Ruth) Schofield; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen (Don) Carver.
Funeral services were held at the Gunderson East Funeral Home, Madison, on Saturday, Aug. 4. Private burial was at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at the Carbone Cancer Center and the UW Trauma Life Center for their extraordinary care. The family would also like to thank Care Wisconsin for their comprehensive services. A special thanks to Allison and caregiver, Phyllis.
