Two men were injured in separate motor vehicle crashes near Weyerhaeuser over the Labor Day weekend, according to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday, Aug. 31, an ATV crash was reported at 4 p.m. in the W14200 block of Rusty Nail Road in Big Bend Township, south of Weyerhaeuser and east of Chetek, according to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Department. A man, Kenneth R. Kuzelka, 62, had rolled his ATV and was injured. Bruce and Weyerhaeuser fire departments responded, along with Life Link III helicopter, Rusk County Ambulance and sheriff’s deputies.
The ambulance transported Kuzelka to the Big Bend Township helicopter landing pad, from where Life Link III flew him to a hospital in Eau Claire.
On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, around 7:15 p.m., a motorcycle hit a deer in the N5800 block of CTH O in Atlanta Township, according to the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff’s deputies, Bruce and Weyerhaeuser fire departments, Rusk County Ambulance and Life Link III helicopter all responded to the scene where Casey L. Simpson, 42, was injured. The helicopter transported Simpson to a hospital in Eau Claire.
Both incidents were being investigated by the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office..
