A man in Chippewa County was arrested early Sunday morning, Sept. 8, after a stabbing incident at a residence west of Chippewa Falls, according to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department.
Joseph R. “Joey” Moldrem, 28, of Wheeler, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of substantial battery, probation violation and possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies and Chippewa Falls EMS responded to a residence in the 5000 block of 20th Avenue just after 1:20 a.m. on Sunday after a 911 call. There, they found a man and a woman on the floor, both of whom had at least one stab or cut wound to the chest.
Police said Moldrem stabbed them during a fight. Moldrem allegedly admitted that drug paraphernalia and a small amount of THC in the house belonged to him.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital. The male victim had to have lifesaving surgery. The female victim also had surgery for her wound.
The incident was under investigation by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office. No charges against Moldrem had been filed in court as of Tuesday, Sept. 10.
