A Chetek man has been charged with three counts of felony child sexual assault after allegedly sexually assaulting three juvenile relatives.
Jimmy J. “Pepsi” Sekola, 65, of Chetek, was charged Feb. 9 with first-degree child sexual assault-sexual contact with person under age of 13, first-degree child sexual assault-sexual contact/intercourse with a child under age 13 and second-degree sexual assault of child.
On Jan. 30, 2020, two family members told a sheriff’s department investigator that a young relative of Sekola’s may have been sexually assaulted by him. The child’s mother said the child told them that Sekola, who goes by the name of “Pepsi,” had shown her a video of a man peeing and had touched her “private area.”
Later, in a forensic interview, the child told investigators that “Pepsi Jim” had allegedly touched her groin area under her clothing.
The child’s mother said Sekola and a family member had helped take care of the child at Sekola’s rural Chetek home and the incident likely took place between April 2018 and December 2019.
On Feb. 12, 2020, investigators interviewed Sekola. When asked about the child, he said, “Apparently, [the child] said I did something.”
When told what the child said, Sekola allegedly denied that any sexual contact happened.
Sekola allegedly admitted to touching the groin, breasts or buttocks of two other relatives when they were minors.
When asked if it was for a sexual purpose, Sekola allegedly said “yea, even though nothing can be done; just the touching.”
Investigators spoke with the other two relatives who are now adults.
One woman alleged Sekola sexually abused her at his house when she was in the fourth and fifth grades, sometime from 2003 to 2005. She said he touched her groin under her clothing and recalled seeing the other juvenile relative being assaulted by Sekola. She told investigators that the “thing that happened to me was the same thing as what happened to [the child],” and that she did not want Sekola to do that to anyone else.
The other woman was interviewed and alleged that Sekola also sexually assaulted her when she was 4–11, including incidents from 2002 to 2004. She alleged he touched her groin over her underwear.
The woman said she distanced herself from Sekola and his family to make sure her children did not have the same things happen to them.
If convicted of all charges, Sekola faces a maximum penalty of 160 years in prison and/or $100,000 in fines.
A court summons was issued for Sekola. An initial appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, March 3.
