Sentencing is set for Tuesday, Nov. 16, for a 22-year-old Rice Lake man who pleaded guilty Wednesday, Sept. 8, to four charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a Chetek girl, according to Barron County Circuit Court documents.

Ian George Bednarek, of Rice Lake, pled guilty on Sept. 8 to two amended felony charges of indecent exposure and two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sex assault, court records said.

The original complaint charged Bednarek with two counts of second-degree child sex assault, which collectively carry penalties that range to up to 80 years in prison and/or $200,000 in fines.

The complaint alleged that the defendant had two sexual encounters with the girl between April 1 and July 1, 2020. She was 13 years old at the beginning of that time frame, and 14 at the conclusion, court records said.
