A Barron man could face up to a year behind bars after an incident Sunday, June 5, 2022, at a softball tournament at Sportsman’s Park, according to Barron County Circuit Court records.

A complaint filed June 6 identifies the defendant as Scott A. Popple, 33, of Barron.

He was identified by several witnesses who told a Cameron officer that a man “was causing problems and trying to start fights with people” on the final day of the Camerama softball tournament.

The officer asked the defendant to leave, which he allegedly refused to do. After being persuaded to leave, the defendant allegedly told a witness he had threatened to kill an officer.

He was arrested in a yard in the 600 block of Spruce Avenue, and allegedly tried to kick the officer while being cuffed.

Court records said the defendant has been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer, and is free on $1,000 signature bond pending a hearing on Aug. 24.
