Monnier buck

Another big buck hit the ground two days later when Chetek resident Travis Monnier, pictured at right, harvested this big eight-point buck on Sunday, Oct. 27. Monnier got done with work at 2:30 p.m. in Faribault, Minn., then drove back to Chetek and hoofed it straight out to his stand, despite only having 45 minutes or so before dark. Right before dark, two bucks appeared in the field Monnier was hunting when the bigger eight-point buck followed a doe and stopped at 23 yards from Monnier’s stand. After sending a lethal shot through the buck, the whitetail ran roughly 40 yards to a creek and expired in the water where Monnier’s dad, Cory, also pictured, noticed the antlers sticking up. The impressive eight-pointer measured 144 inches.
