Three people have been arrested and charged for the death of a 37-year-old man in Dunn Township, the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Ryan L. Steinhoff, 37, homeless; Chad D. Turgeson, 37, of Eau Claire; and Ashley A. Gunder, 24, of Saint Anthony, Minn., were charged with first-degree intentional homicide (as party to a crime) (use of a dangerous weapon). Steinhoff and Gunder were charged with multiple counts of bail jumping.

On Nov. 17, The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office said deputies went to an address in the N2500 block of 440th Street in Dunn Township for a welfare check. There, a deceased white male was found. His identity was not known initially, but he was later identified as Bruce E. McGuigan, 37, of Hayward.

One suspect was taken into custody at the residence. Two others were taken into custody at a motel in Menomonie late on Nov. 17. At least one of the suspects knew the victim and investigators said it was not a random incident.

A pathologist determined McGuigan had been killed by multiple blunt force injuries.

The matter remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin Crime lab, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
