A man from Turtle Lake has been identified as the driver killed in a crash on Hwy. 8 near Poskin on Thursday morning, Oct. 17.

Brian Morris, 44, was the man killed, according to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.

Morris was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander east on Hwy. 8 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2009 Mack semitruck and trailer, driven by Robin Gregg, 51, of Niagara.

A previous press release misidentified Morris’ vehicle as a van.

Dispatch logs said the vehicle was on fire and the semi was a U.S. Postal Service truck hauling Amazon deliveries.

Morris was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gregg was transported to the hospital in Barron with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The crash was reported at 4:52 a.m. and Hwy. 8 was closed until 1:45 p.m. The incident was being investigated by the BCSD and Wisconsin State Patrol.
