A 66-year-old man doing snowmobile trail maintenance was run over and killed by a tractor, in what the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office is calling an accident.

The DCSO named the man as Craig S. Koser, from the town of Menomonie, Dunn County.

Koser was riding in the bucket of a tractor on 420th Avenue on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, after doing snowmobile trail maintenance and installing signs for the upcoming season.

The tractor, driven by a friend of Koser, hit a bump, causing Koser to lose his balance, fall out of the bucket and get run over by the tractor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Koser retired in 2009 after 24 years with the DCSO.

“Craig will be deeply missed by family, friends and his brothers and sisters at the sheriff’s office,” said Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd.
