Snowmobile trail signs were damaged in southern Dunn County and authorities are seeking charges against two men who allegedly admitted involvement.

More than 70 signs were damaged, costing around $2,000 in all.

Reports of damage to signs along snowmobile trails 20 and 33 in Dunn County were received by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Jan. 19. The trails are located in the townships of Spring Brook and Rock Creek in southeast Dunn County.

A reward was offered by local snowmobile clubs and local businesses, and the public provided tips.

With Department of Natural Resources wardens and Dunn County sheriff’s deputies, two men were identified as being involved and allegedly admitted to causing the damage.

Formal charges are being sought from the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office.

The signs have been repaired by the Elk Lake Blizzard and Brunswick Beavers snowmobile clubs.
