The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two people in surveillance footage.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said his department wanted to talk to the people about an ongoing case.

It appeared the investigation was related to a theft reported on Wednesday, Sept. 2. On that afternoon, a woman told sheriff’s deputies that her vehicle at the CTH I boat landing had been broken into while she was paddling on the river, according to dispatch logs. Later, deputies went to KJ’s in Chetek where the woman’s bank card was allegedly being used.

The photos released by the sheriff’s department appeared to show a man and a woman entering and exiting KJ’s Fresh Market in Chetek, however Fitzgerald could not comment on or confirm any of the details, citing the active, ongoing case.

He said they wanted to release the photos quickly in case the subjects were not from the area. The photos were blurry and it was hard to see any details, but Fitzgerald said that was the best they had.

Fitzgerald said anyone with information should contact the Barron County Sheriff’s Department at 715-537-3106.

No one has been charged yet and any subjects are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
