Three people were hurt—wiith minor to severe injuries—after a truck collided with a horse and buggy on CTH M near 30th Avenue on Thursday evening, Feb. 18, according to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash was reported to 911 at 6:44 p.m., Feb. 18, and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene along with a Washburn County deputy, Marshfield Medical Center ambulance, Rice Lake Fire Department, Birchwood Fire Department and a Life Link III helicopter.
The initial crash investigation showed that the horse and buggy was traveling north on CTH M when it was struck by the truck, which was also driving north. The buggy had rear lights operating.
The truck driver was treated and released at the scene. A 16-year-old occupant of the buggy had minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Marshfield Medical Center. A 17-year-old occupant of the buggy was airlifted from the scene in serious condition.
The crash was being investigated by the BCSD.
