Alcohol and speeding was a suspected factor in a crash west of Holcombe on CTH M, in Chippewa County, on Thursday morning, April 16, according to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department.

The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. on Thursday. Chippewa County Sheriff James Kowalczyk said a vehicle was traveling west on CTH M at a high rate of speed when the driver, Chloe Brenner, failed to negotiate a curve in the road, went into the ditch and collided with a tree. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

Sheriff's deputies, Cornell Fire and EMS, Chippewa Falls EMS and Life Link III and Mayo 2 helicopters responded. The four occupants were extracted from the vehicle.

One male was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. Two other occupants had non-lifethreatening injuries. Brenner was transported via ambulance to a local hospital and later arrested on suspicion of OWI.

The crash remained under investigation by the CCSO.
