A new case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Barron County on Friday afternoon, May 1, according to Barron County Public Health.

This brings the count to seven. The previous six confirmed cases had recovered and were released from self-isolation, which they did at home.

The seventh case had not been traveling to high-risk areas and did not have contact with a confirmed case, BCPH said. This suggested "community spread." Due to health privacy laws, BCPH was not releasing other details about new case, other than they were isolating at home.

Anyone who has been in close contact with this positive case will be notified by public health.
