A woman, struck by a truck, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 16, on Hwy. 64, north of Bloomer, and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who saw the truck or woman before the crash to contact the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff James Kowalczyk said a Gibson’s Water Care truck, driven by Trevor J. Plemon, 24, of Chippewa Falls, was westbound on Hwy. 64 when it struck a woman in the curve in the roadway near 190th Avenue just before 6:24 p.m. The woman was identified as Christine J. Prueher, 63, of Greenfield.
Chippewa County sheriff’s deputies, state patrol, Bloomer firefighters and Bloomer police responded to the scene. Prueher was transported by ambulance to Mayo hospital in Bloomer, then airlifted to Mayo hospital in Eau Claire and underwent surgery. There, she succumbed to her injuries, Kowalczyk said.
The crash remained under investigation. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who saw the activity of the woman or the truck in this time frame to contact the sheriff’s office at 715-726-7701.
Kowalczyk said Plemon appeared in court on Thursday, Sept. 17, and had a $10,000 cash bond set. He was charged with operating under the influence of an intoxicant or drug (second offense), possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia.
