With the Wisconsin’s famed gun deer season set to open this weekend, the Chetek Lions Club will once again be collecting deer hides in support of the Wisconsin Lions Camp. There are two drop-off sites for hunters to donate deer hides in Chetek: Kwik Trip on Second Street and Horton’s True Value Hardware on Dallas Street. The Chetek Lions collected 110 donated hides last year and the Wisconsin Lions Camp collected a total of 20,000 statewide. Since 1956, the Wisconsin Lions Camp has been dedicated to providing a quality camping experience for Wisconsin youth and adults with disabilities. Money raised by the Wisconsin Lions Camp from deer hides, since inception of the organization, exceeds $1 million. Money raised from the deer hides goes directly to the Lions Camp to help serve others. The sites will be open for collection before the start of gun deer season and will be collected in January 2021.
