Participants were “Freezin’ for a Reason” during  Red’s second annual Grill & Bar Polar Bear Plunge—formerly Red’s Jump for a Cause— on Saturday, Jan. 22. Nearly 20 jumpers and took the icy plunge into Lake Chetek at the annual event, where money raised is donated to the Chetek Fire Department and the Pink Ribbon Advocacy of Barron County, which provides financial assistance to residents in the county to help cover uninsured expenses associated with receiving breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Deb Jacobs, pictured above, at left, was the emcee of the event and attendees enjoyed a post-party with raffle prizes, food and drink specials and live entertainment from DJ Prestige Worldwide following the on-the-ice activities. Jacobs raised the highest individual total through pledges $1,212 for the event. Pictured above, at right, Dan Bjugstad is giving the thumbs up after jumping in. Pictured below is part of the the Chilly Willies the High Beams team, who raised the highest team total $3,565. We appreciate all the support for the event, especially from the Chetek Fire Department and Pink Ribbon Advocacy. Thanks to everyone that came out on the cold day and for raising money for a good cause,” stated Lisa Heidemann, owners of Red’s Grill & Bar.
