A 50-year-old Bloomer man was killed when his vehicle crashed on CTH CC north of 240th Avenue in Chippewa County, according to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office.

The deceased was identified as Paul D. Schwab. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Lt. Rick Stark said the crash was reported at 11:23 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Aug. 28, but it likely occurred sometime between Tuesday evening, Aug. 27, and early Wednesday morning, in the town of Cleveland.

Based on the initial investigation, Schwab was driving south on CTH CC when his vehicle entered the west ditch at a high rate of speed and overturned, ejecting him in the crash. Sheriff's deputies, Cornell Fire and Rescue and Chippewa County Coroner's Office responded to the scene.

The vehicle was found on its roof. Schwab was found deceased at the scene.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
