The mascot of Booster Days, the Booster Rooster, was in Chetek for Liberty Fest this July, promoting Weyerhaeuser’s annual celebration.

Weyerhaeuser welcomes one and all to the 72nd annual Booster Days celebration, starting Friday, Aug. 30, and running through Sunday evening, Sept. 1.

Admission is free for all events, including afternoon and evening dances with live bands (including polka), a craft bazaar, kids’ activities, various sports tournaments, and races and parades.

Friday, Aug. 30

On Friday, Aug. 30, the double elimination wood bat softball tournament begins. Call 715-790-1823 for more information.

Saturday, Aug. 31

A full day of events kicks off Saturday, Aug. 31, with the Weyerhaeuser United Methodist Church breakfast from 7:30–11 a.m. Cost is $6 for pancakes or biscuits and sausage gravy.

At 8 a.m., the softball tournament continues.

Chalkfest starts at 10 a.m. at The Depot. Registration is at 9 a.m. Kids will be provided chalk and a square of pavement to create chalk art on. Judges will give awards for the best chalk art.

An auction for sports memorabilia will be at the park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The silent auction will have Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Vikings items.

The volleyball tournament starts at 9 a.m. For information or to enter, call 715-642-0335.

The Booster Days Bazaar is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with craft, vintage and yard sale vendors. For information, call 715-790-3555. Cost is $25 for vendors to reserve a spot.

From 1–5 p.m. is a kids’ game land, organized by Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Girl Scouts. There will be a bounce house and a variety of chance games for kids.

A wine bar will be open at 2 p.m.

Dances start at 4:30 p.m., with a band, Bob Sibinski Polka Time, playing until 5:30 p.m. Craig Ebel and DyVersaCo, a polka band, plays from 7:30–11:30 p.m. There is no cover charge.

Sunday, Sept. 1

The VFW French toast breakfast runs 8–10:30 a.m. at the VFW Hall.

The softball tournament continues at 8 a.m.

The kids’ run starts at 8:45 a.m. The entry fee is $5. The 5K walk/run starts at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $20 or $25 on race day.

Each 5K racer receives a chicken dinner at the end. Those who registered before Aug. 20 are guaranteed a T-shirt. Find the registration form at https://weyerhaeuser.weebly.com.

Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church outdoor polka Mass is at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m. are the Weyerhaeuser firemen’s barbecued chicken dinner at the park and Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church’s chicken dinner.

The kiddie parade starts at 12:30 p.m. downtown and the grand parade starts at 12:45 p.m. For info or to enter either parade, call 715-868-6872. There is no cost to be in the parades; just call to register and check in at Barney’s Meats starting at 11:30 a.m.

The kids’ game land runs again from 1–5 p.m.

At 2 p.m., the beanbag tournament starts. Meet at the volleyball court to register and to play.

The wine bar opens at 2 p.m.

Dances start at 2 p.m. with the Doctor Kielbasa polka band playing to 5:30 p.m. Country rock band EverRoad plays from 7–11 p.m. No cover charge for either dance.
