Anglers are reminded that the new fishing license year begins on Wednesday, April 1, for waters or species with a continuous open season. Licenses and stamps for the 2020 year are on sale now through gowild.wi.gov. Fees for the 2020 license year remain the same as last year.
The 2020 game fish season reopens on Saturday, May 2.
Wisconsin residents and nonresidents who are 16 years old or older need a fishing license to fish in any waters of the state. Kids who are 15 years old and under can fish free every day—as do anglers born before 1927 and active duty military on furlough or leave who are Wisconsin residents.
More information about length and bag limits, as well as places to fish, can be found at https://dnr.wi.gov by searching “Fishing Regulations.”
