The Chetek Lions Club has a drop box for used glasses (including readers, sunglasses, prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses), old cell phones and hearing aids. The Lions Club has 18 donation points around the nation to collect around 800,000 glasses annually. The glasses are then provided without cost to vision missions in developing countries. Wisconsin Lions have participated in missions to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Haiti and Mexico in the past few years. Pictured above, Chetek Lions member Salena Sackrider drops her used glasses into the drop box. The box is located in front of KJ’s Fresh Market (formerly Gordy’s Market) in Chetek.
