Lone Oak 50th

Lone Oak Manor was built 50 years ago and to celebrate the occasion, current residents and city leaders gathered for a luncheon on Thursday, July 23, pictured above. It was held in place of the annual tenant summer picnic. The 30-unit, eight-building complex was built in 1970 under Chetek Housing Authority and provides affordable housing to those 62 years or older or handicapped/disabled residents. “Lone Oak stands as a memorial of the greatest respect and high esteem by farsighted, civic-minded citizens of Chetek, for the senior citizens of our community,” council member Terry Hight read from Lone Oak’s first tenant handbook. Mayor Jeff Martin and council member Earl Grover also spoke.
