Eleven pilots donated their time and planes for the annual Young Eagle Flights, hosted by the Rice Lake chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Around 50 kids, ages 8 to 17, received certificates and logbooks documenting their flights. For many, it was their first flight in a small plane. The next Young Eagles flights will be in Shell Lake airport on Saturday, July 13. An event will be held at the Rice Lake Regional Airport on Saturday, Aug. 17. Pictured above, at left, Josh Luedtke, 15, of Fall Creek, sits in the plane belonging to Bob Gillette, of Stone Lake, just before they took their flight. Gillette was flying his Maule M5.
