The 2020 edition of Sip for the Shelf will be held at 4–7 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Chetek Lanes Event Center & Pizzeria.

Returning vendors include O’Neil Creek Winery, Brigadoon Winery, Valkyrie Brewing Company and Perlick Distillery, as well as new vendors Roundman Brewery (from Spooner), Bloomer Brewery and Beechwood Sales.

There will be three $100 cash drawings that evening courtesy of Bank First—everyone who purchases a ticket is eligible for this drawing. A silent auction will return, as well as a lottery board, raffles for homemade quilts and a beverage cooler. A 50-50 chance game will be introduced. Wine glass lanyards have been donated by Sterling Bank.

The always popular wine pull will be back again. This part of Sip for the Shelf features a variety of wine priced from $10 to $50. A person pays $10 for a cork with a number on it and that number corresponds to a bottle of wine. Participants win every time. There will also be a wine pull for $20 per chance—the value of that wine is $45 or higher.

The goal of the fundraiser is to be able to continue to help those in the community who need help. A portion of the proceeds from Sip for the Shelf will support the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Weekend Backpack Program, which was created by C-W Future Business Leaders of America students in 2018. The Chetek Food Shelf provides food and the location for the bags to be packed. The purpose of the program is to provide children attending Roselawn Elementary additional food for the weekend. Currently 56 children are receiving food for the weekends. The children usually get enough food for two breakfasts, two lunches and several snacks—these are kid-friendly foods.

Tickets may be purchased online (a change from previous years); the link is located on the Sip for the Shelf event page on Facebook. Tickets can also be purchased at Six Lakes Realty during normal business hours. Tickets will cost $25 per person when purchased in advance, and $30 per person when purchased that evening at the door.
