Arlyn Colby will speak at the Brown Bag Lunch program, Tuesday, November 9, at the Calhoun Memorial Library. The program will begin at 12 p.m. and will last about one hour. This program is free and open to the public.

Colby’s program will feature the abandoned railroads that have served west central Wisconsin. Colby has written seven books about the abandoned branch railroads in this area of the state. The talk will feature: The Blueberry Line, The Park Falls Line, The Chippewa Line, and The Mondovi Line. The Cornell Line, The Spring Valley Line, and the Ellsworth Line will also be explored. His books will be available for sale after the program.

Colby is a retired high school mathematics teacher and coach from Barron High School. His program on the railways that once served Barron County and surrounding counties will bring the past glory days of trains to life with many interesting pictures and facts.

Bring your lunch and munch while you listen. The library will supply prepackaged snacks and bottled water.

The Calhoun Memorial Library is located at 321 Moore Street in Chetek. Look for the big bell on the front lawn.
