This Sunday, Jan. 17, the Chetek Area Prayer Initiative will be holding a time of prayer in honor of Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. The gathering will be held at Faith Baptist Church and will include a time of spoken and silent prayer. It will begin at 5 p.m. and last approximately one hour in length.

Every year, Christians across the country and across denominational lines gather together on the Sunday closest to the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in 1973 that made abortion legal, to pray for all those affected by this decision. It is estimated that nearly 60 million abortions have occurred in the U.S. since it became the law of the land.

Kaydie Green, director of the Pregnancy Help Center, and Jessica Hanson, the LifeSprings Family Care director, will be present to update those gathered on the ministry of the PHC so that we might pray more effectively. The PHC has been bringing both pre- and post-birth care to residents of Barron County for many years now and is located in Rice Lake.

The Chetek Area Prayer Initiative is made up of Christians from fellowships around the area who gather together regularly to pray for God’s work in and around this part of the county. For more information about CAPI, call Pastor Jeff at 715-925-6078. For more information about the prayer event this Sunday evening, call Pastor Paul Poppe at 715-924-3980. Faith Baptist is located at 1475 Railroad Ave. in Chetek.
