A semi-trailer truck tipped on its side, blocking the southbound exit of Hwy. 53 at CTH I in Chetek on Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, after an apparent collision with a car, according to Barron County dispatch logs.

Chetek Fire Chief Ryan Olson said the semi truck driver and the three occupants in the car that was involved did not need medical transport—all were okay. One of the people in the car, St. Boniface’s Father Bala Policetty, said he was okay.

The exit was closed for about three hours for wreckers to right the semi and remove it from the roadway. Barron County sheriff’s deputies, Chetek police officers, Chetek Fire Department, Chetek Ambulance Service, Gold Cross Ambulance and Blackjack Towing were called to respond.

Photos were not available. Information on the cause of the crash and names had not been released by police as of press time on Tuesday.
