Chetek residents Joe Donnerbauer and Landon Cole are the new owners of B and B Bar & Grill as of Monday, Aug. 2.
They purchased the business from Steve Knudson and Mary Winchester, who have owned it since 2015.
Having a bar in downtown Chetek has been an idea that Donnerbauer and Cole have talked about for nearly a decade.
“Well, Joe and I have been talking about a bar for the past eight years. It’s been a dream between the two of us,” Cole said. This happened the perfect opportunity and they decided to pull the trigger on it, Cole explained.
Donnerbauer is from Chetek and has worked at Gilligans for more than 14 years. For more than eight years, he has managed the bar at Gilligans. Cole, also from Chetek, owns a small general contracting company, LC Custom Contractors.
Cole said the bar and its food menu will stay the same for the first few months. They have done some light remodeling before the bar’s soft reopening on Friday, Aug. 6.
They plan to close the business for about two months in the winter. They will shut down sometime in February 2022 for remodeling and reopen in April 2022 with a grand opening.
They may make changes to the menu later on, but for now, they are keeping things the same and figuring out what works.
The biggest change will be the days and hours. They will be open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to close (around midnight). The kitchen will open at 11 a.m. and run until 9 p.m. After 9 p.m., there will be a limited menu with appetizers.
“We’re just super excited to come and work in downtown,” Cole said. “We’re looking forward to it,” Donnerbauer added.
