Harry Bossany, a drummer in various polka bands and Chetek’s longtime barber, will be handing over his shears, clippers and keys to Heidi Fedie, owner of Heidi’s Haircare, in Sand Creek.

Bossany’s last day for haircuts at the shop will be Friday, Sept. 6, culminating a 57-year career.

An open house with refreshements will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the barbershop, at 205 Knapp St. It will be a chance for Bossany’s clients to meet Fedie, and for Fedie’s clients to see her new shop.

Fedie has been cutting hair since 2002. She will continue to do barber work as Bossany did, but also add on salon services, including cuts, perms, coloring, hair extension, up-dos and styles, Fedie explained.

“I’d like to keep his clients feeling just as comfortable as mine are,” Fedie said. Excited yet nervous for the change, she said it will be fun and good.

A man has already asked to be Bossany’s last haircut in the shop on Friday (no haircuts on Saturday), but Bossany said that honor may go to a family member.

He won’t cut out cold turkey; Bossany will continue to cut hair for residents at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chetek.
