Three contestants were vying for the coveted Fairest of the Fair title at the Barron County Fair. The contestants presented their own radio ads, self introduction, and an impromptu introduction for the Barron County Fairest of the Fair judging panel on July 15. The crowning ceremony took place at the Tim Heffernan stage next to the Youth Building on the county fairgrounds Friday, July 22. Pictured above is Brooke Shatley, Barron High School graduate of 2018 and Barron resident, being crowned as Fairest of the Fair by 2021’s Fairest of the Fair, Amanda Librande. Shatley’s responsibilities include being an ambassador and spokesperson for the fair and taking part in parades. The Fairest of the Fair is also awarded a scholarship to assist in paying college expenses. Fairest of the Fair runner-up was awarded to Chetek’s very own Erin Lancaster pictured at the far right holding her bouquet and her Fairest of the Fair runner-up sash. If the Fairest of the Fair is unable to perform her duties for any reason, the runner-up will assume the responsibilities of Fairest of the Fair.
