I have to comment on the disappointing way this year’s Chetek Wine Walk was conducted. The hours were listed as beginning at 4 p.m. We got in line with many others. At that point, a woman told us that the bags with the wine glasses were all gone.

There were several piled on a table, but she said those had already “been promised.” How are you out of your 30 glasses before the wine walk is even supposed to start? And how do you become one of the promised few?

That reminds me of Rib Fest, where it seems like the promised few seem to have some connection.

We tried a couple more stops, including Pillar Construction Group, listed as a sponsor. No glasses there either. We just kept getting directed to Main Street Park and the $20 glasses. We were told they could be used for the next wine walk as well.

Not helpful for my Florida sisters who would not be here. They had been here for the first wine walk several years ago, where we had such a good time. They actually planned their vacation to be here for this one.

What a disappointment. We will not try to participate again.
