James “Jim” Leo Danner

James “Jim” Leo Danner, 79, of Chetek, Wis., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 10, 2019, while on vacation with his wife in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Jim was born on June 18, 1940, in Beloit, Wis., the son of Russel and Viola Danner.

Jim graduated from South Beloit High School in 1958. He served the U.S. Navy for three years, and on Aug. 4, 1962, he married Joanne Bonebright in Sharon, Wis. They lived and raised their three children in Beloit, Wis. He worked for Ingersol Milling in Rockford, Ill., for 41 years, retiring in 2002. Jim and Joanne moved to Chetek in 2003, where they built their new home on their tree farm.

Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially working on his tree farm, hunting and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed watching college sports, but mostly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren competing in sports. Jim was a member of Chetek Lutheran Church, was active in the Chetek American Legion Post #179, and was a member of the Chetek American Legion Honor Guard.

Jim leaves to celebrate his memory his wife, Joanne Danner, of Chetek; sons Jamie (Mary), of Mayville, Wis., Jack (Laura), of Mayville, and Jerry (Kris), of Fond du Lac, Wis.; and grandchildren and pallbearers Desiree Brooke, Dominic Brooke, Chantal Danner, Brittaney Danner, Dakota Danner, Faith Danner, Erik Danner and Noah Danner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Viola Danner, and his brother, Bob Danner.

The funeral service for Jim will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, at Chetek Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service, please join the family for continued visitation and lunch in the church basement.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
