Matthew Dean Chaplin, 54, of Holcombe, Wis., died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at his home. He was born on Sept. 4, 1964, to Robert Jr. and Thelma (Sours) Chaplin.

Matthew was an active member of Living Waters Assembly of God in Bruce, Wis. He loved to play with the church band and sing. He also worked in Chetek, Wis., at Bob’s Auto Sales with his parents, Bob and Thelma Chaplin, as a car salesman. Matthew was an avid deer hunter. He loved to bow and rifle hunt. He was a good Christian, and he loved his church and people with whom he worshipped. He was truly a great son and an awesome brother. He will be truly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma, of Holcombe; and two brothers, Joseph Chaplin, of Barron, Wis., and Mark Chaplin, of Chattanooga, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and two brothers, Thomas J. and Timothy R. Chaplin.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Living Waters Assembly of God in Bruce with Pastor Truman Stricklen officiating. There will be a half hour of visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m., and a luncheon following the service.

Nash-Jackan Funeral Homes in Ladysmith, Wis., is assisting with the arrangements.
