Marilyne Mackowiak

Long-time resident and resort owner, Marilyne Mackowiak of Chetek, Wis., passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2021, at Oak Park Place, of Burlington, Wis., at the age of 84.

Marilyne was born in Platteville, Wis., to Lucille and Henry Moeller.

She obtained a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Valparaiso University. She met her husband, Jim, in Chicago, Ill., and they were married in 1964. They moved to Chetek in 1974 where they owned and operated Rainbows End Resort for many years. Some may also know her as one of the Chetek school lunch ladies. Marilyne was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her Tuesday ladies breakfast group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and sister, Janice Schuster.

Marilyne will be remembered by her sisters, Karen Huffine, Pat Draper and Alicia Sajdak, and children Michael Mackowiak, Liam Mackowiak and Lynette Oman.

A celebration of Marilyne’s life will be held in Chetek this summer on a date to be determined.
