Helen Marlene Meister, 85, of Chetek, Wis., in Dovre Township, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019.
Helen Blank was born in Chicago, Ill., in 1933, the daughter of Austin and Sarah Jane (Marlatt) Blank. She met her husband, Bill, in Chicago and they were married in Hawaii on July 16, 1952. They raised their five children in the same house she grew up in. She worked for Osco Drug. She and Bill retired in 1992 and moved to Bass Lake, near Chetek. She enjoyed baking and loved to have people visit her and Bill. She loved to garden and watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in the lake. Helen will be dearly missed.
Helen leaves to celebrate her memory her husband, William; children Michael (Sharon) Meister, of Chetek, Michele (Rand) Hoffmann, of Joliet, Ill., Allen Meister (Sandra Thibault), of Chetek, Mark (Sharon) Meister, of Birch Bay, Wash., and Nancy (Donnie) Sibrava, of Westmont, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Jason (Mindy Markham) Jordan, Sarah (Paul) Fitzpatrick, Jameson Jordan, Jacob Sibrava, Melissa Meister, Samantha Sibrava and Nick Sibrava; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Batten; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Sarah Jane Blank.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Please join the family for lunch and continued fellowship in the church social hall following the Mass.
Helen will be laid to rest at the Northwest Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to Mayo Hospice.
The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
