John C. Pingel

John C. Pingel, 71, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer, Wis.

He was born June 19, 1947, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Orville and Loretta (Riley) Pingel. He graduated as valedictorian from New Auburn High School in 1966 and graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1979, where he was a member of The Singing Statesmen. He worked at Walter Brewing Company in Eau Claire from 1970–1975 and was a third-generation dairy farmer on the farm built by his grandfather from 1989–2006. John married Janet Garvens in 1972 in Waukesha, Wis. He was always ready to “discuss” politics, the Brewers or the Packers and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, fishing, golfing and a really good cup of coffee.

He is survived by his wife Janet, of New Auburn, Wis.; children Sarah (Brian) Groskreutz and their children, Carolynn and Ethan, of Truman, Minn.; Stephanie (Mike) Adrihan and their children, Ezri and Alizee, of West Allis, Wis.; Shawn Pingel, of West Allis, Wis.; Shannon Pingel, of Glendale, Colo.; and Shelly (Colt) Christianson, of Chetek, Wis. Also surviving are his siblings, Janet (Clyde) Allison, James (Margie) Pingel and Joe (Terriese) Pingel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ida Riley and John and Elizabeth Pingel, and his parents, Orville and Loretta.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Bethel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, with a visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Olson Funeral Home and Cremation in Bloomer is assisting the family.
