Barbara Ann Steinberger

Barbara Ann Steinberger, 76, of Chetek, Wis., died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at her home. She was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., to Frederick and Doris (Sester) Greene.

She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1960, then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving several years. Barb worked a short time for Fabri-Tech in Amery, Wis., where she met Dennis Steinberger. They were married in Reno, Nev., on April 21, 1966, and they began raising their family. During this time, she ran the house and supported her children in their many activities. After her children were grown, Barb returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper for Michael’s Store and Ziegler Ace Hardware until retirement, when they moved to Chetek. Barb was a voracious reader, an avid fisherwoman, a gardener and a card player.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Chetek; two children, David Steinberger, of Chetek, and Lynette (Kevin) Marshall, of Cameron, Wis.; grandchildren Troy (Erin) Switzer, of Marshall, Ill., Theresa Steinberger, of Lima, Ohio, Samantha (Rob Wagner) Switzer, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Stuart (Dani) Marshall and Laura (Simon) King, of the U.K.; great-grandchildren Madelyn McNeely, and Lyla and Alice King; brothers Bud (Donna) Greene, of Somerset, Wis., and Joe (Dawn) Greene, of Turtle Lake, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Roslyn Greene.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Pipe Lake Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery with military honors accorded by Wisconsin Military Honors Team.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland, Wis., is serving the family.
