Laura E. Breed

Laura E. Breed, 96, passed away at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer, Wis., on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018. She was born July 21, 1922, at home in Bear Lake, Wis., just east of Chetek, Wis., to Fayette and Elsie (Rinehart) Gillett. 

She married Clark H. Breed on June 1, 1951, in Chicago, Ill. Laura worked as a homemaker and also as a maid and a factory worker. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as trustee. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, reading, dancing and researching genealogy. 

She is survived by her sons, Peter (Marge) Breed, of New Auburn, Wis., Bill (Linda) Breed, of Chetek, and Bob Breed, of Chetek; one daughter, Robin (Randy) Bohl, of Chetek; one daughter-in-law, Linda (Frank) Breed-Starcz, of Weyerhauser, Wis.; one sister, Elsie Wilczynski, of Woodridge Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fayette and Elsie Gillett; husband Clark; sons Michael Breed and Charles Kailus; granddaughters Michelle Breed and Stacy Bohl; brother Fayette Gillett; sisters Celia Breed, Ethel Rathbun, Marion Brady, Iva Plummer, Ruth Squires, Neva Tallman and Delores Hrascinski; and special friend Ben Lannon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Twin Lakes Cemetery.
