Eugene “Carsten” Brodersen, 83, passed away at his home in Chetek, Wis., on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018.
He was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Arlington, Wash., to Henry and Rose (Kraetz) Brodersen. Carsten married Kathy Rathert on June 18, 1958, in Arlington, and together, they purchased a farm in Oso, Wash. He loved working with animals and took great pride in farming. He retired from dairy farming in the 1990s and started a trucking business. When they moved to Wisconsin, they purchased a small crop farm in Chetek and continued farming and trucking. Carsten enjoyed fixing up trucks in his spare time. He drove to truck shows around the country with Kathy.
He is survived by his children, Jeffery Brodersen and Tammy (Glenn Chapple) Brodersen, both of Seattle, Wash.; brothers Bill, Donald and Roger; and one sister, Rosemary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose; his wife, Kathy; brothers Ralph and Laurence; and one sister, Louise.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, at the New Auburn Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness, located at 20232 80th St., Bloomer, with a luncheon to follow at the Bloomer Senior Center, located at 2121 Duncan Rd.
