Donald (Stanley) Ray Stanford

Donald (Stanley) Ray Stanford, 61, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.

Don was born on March 3, 1959 in Rice Lake, Wis., the son of Earl Stanford and Vi (McFarlane) Jensen.

Don grew up and attended school in Chetek. In 1977, at the age of 18, Don enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for three years. He was proud to follow in his father, Earl’s, and his grandfather, Charles Stanford’s, footsteps as soldiers in the U.S. Army.

Later, he enrolled at WITC in New Richmond and studied to be a machinist/tool and die maker. Following completion of this program, he worked as a machinist for various companies until he passed.

Don was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Anyone who knew him knew his love for the Green and Gold ran deep. His prized possession was a photo of him with Brett Favre.

He is survived by his mother, Vi Jensen, of Chetek; sister, Debra (Tom) Runkle, of Chetek; and brother, Scott (Chris) Stanford, of Phoenix, Ariz.; as well as his nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Earl Stanford.

Interment and graveside service for the family will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek. No services are planned at this time.

O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of River Falls will be handling arrangements for the family.
