Roger Hamholm

Roger Hamholm, 83, of Apache Junction, Ariz., passed away peacefully early Sunday, May 3, 2020, at his home.

Roger was born Nov. 30, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., and was raised in Twin Lakes, Wis. He helped his family’s business, John’s Friendly Tap, in his early years. He met his wife, Francyne “Fay” Sarna, at the roller rink and they were married Oct. 18, 1958. After becoming a Master Plumber in 1959, he started Riteway Plumbing. He moved his growing family to Chetek in 1968 after purchasing The Pokegama Inn, which was an American Plan, on the Chetek Chain of Six Lakes. They owned and operated The Pokegama Inn for 10 years. While an inn owner, Roger enjoyed fishing and hunting. He continued to run Riteway Plumbing and work as a union plumber for over 38 years. Roger not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business.

He retired to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1997, where he enjoyed mountain drives and sitting on the back patio soaking up the sun and mountain views. His final move was in 2015 when he and Fay moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., to be closer to family, yet staying in the “dry heat.”

Roger was dearly loved by his wife, Francyne, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Avery, of Chetek, and Rhonda (Wayne) Cap, of Florence, Ariz., and two sons, Mark Hamholm (Melodee Eckerman), of Cameron, and Brian Hamholm, of Chetek; seven grandchildren, Lucas Avery, of Madison, Lennette (Jason) Erickson, of Cameron, Leslie (Jeremy) Montour, of Forest Lake, Minn., Jake, Payton and Wallace Cap, of Florence, Ariz., and Allison Hamholm, of Chetek; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Miller (Russ Say), of Twin Lakes, Wis., and three brothers, John (Kathy) Hamholm, of Twin Lakes, Wis., Richard (Sue) Hamholm, of Chetek, and Gerald (Judi) Hamholm, of Paddock Lake, Wis.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Fred Miller.

We will miss our dear dad, grandfather and brother.

May he be at peace in the hills of Hogback or atop Mt. Charleston.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
