Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College’s construction and cabinetmaking students swept multiple categories at the 46th Annual State Leadership & Skills Conference in Madison, April 30–May 1. In the Cabinetmaking category, Jasper Bushman, of Catawba, received first place; Mason Kollwitz, of New Auburn, received second place; and Ryan Erickson, of Barron, received third place. In the Carpentry category, Nathaniel Fostvedt, of Cameron, received first place; Dylan Bowers, of Prairie Farm, received second place; and Luke Hessler, of Bruce, received third place. Technical colleges throughout Wisconsin competed in the state conference, and nearly 1,800 middle and high school students participated in competitions involving the skilled and technical trades at the Wisconsin SkillsUSA competition. Bushman and Fostvedt will compete in the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Ky., June 24–28. This is the second year Fostvedt will compete at the national level in the carpentry category after placing seventh in the nation at last year’s competition.
