Chetek-Weyerhaeuser sophomore Lana Blumer was named the District 1 Female Runner of the Year by the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association.

Each year, the WCCCA members in each district cast their votes for Boys Team Coach of the Year, Girls Team Coach of the Year, Male Runner of the Year and Female Runner of the Year. Last year, Blumer was voted runner-up to the winner, Rachel Lawton, of Flambeau.

Blumer won the Heart O’North race in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. Last year, she finished 12th in the Division 3 state meet, and took eighth place this year, becoming the first medalist in C-W history and the first state female medalist in school history since 2007.
