The Chetek-Weyerhaeuser boys’ golf team had a busy first week of the season.

Last week’s action started with a home meet at Sioux Creek Golf Course against the Barron Golden Bears on Thursday, April 22.

Barron won the meet shooting a 194 to C-W’s 250.

Andrew Johnson led the Bulldogs with a 50, followed by Jacob Moen and Lucas Janota, who both shot an 82.

Barron seniors Isaac Mullikin and Zack Mickelson, along with freshman Chase Knutson led the Bears with 47’s for medalist honors.

On Friday, Sioux Creek Golf Course hosted the prestigious Heart of the North junior varsity scramble. Fifty golfers battled it out for bragging rights and for team medals.

C-W’s Isaac Anderson won a skill shot—closest to pin on hole No. 5 and his team placed third overall.

Johnson led his team to a strong second-place finish with a team score of 39. Senior Brody Killoren and his teammates from other schools shot a 39 to win the tournament, and also won the tiebreaker for the Scramble Championship.

The Bulldogs traveled to Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake to play the Cameron Comets on Monday, April 26. The Comets defeated the ‘Dogs shortened conference match, as the match was called after five holes due to weather—however, enough holes were played to call it a full match.

Johnson once again led the Bulldogs in the match.

This week, the Bulldogs continue a jam-packed schedule. C-W will golf in the Barron Invitational on Wednesday, April 28, and then at home against Bloomer on Thursday, April 29. The ‘Dogs will play in the Bloomer Invitational on Friday, April 30, and then will host Cumberland on Monday, May 3.
