Chetek’s Fishy Four Run/Walk will celebrate its 31st anniversary at Liberty Fest 2019 and will once again attempt to set a new record for participants.

The Fishy Four Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, July 6. The four-mile running race and four-mile fun walk will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Last year’s race saw a decline in participants but still featured 784 participants. The record number of participants, 1,130, was set in 2015.

Although no new course records were set at last year’s race, there was a new winner in the men’s four-mile race as Bailey Wilson, of New Richmond, won the race in a time of 22:19. Lisa Burnett, of Chagrin Falls, was the female winner in the 2015 Fishy Four, and she reclaimed her title in a time of 25:00 in 2018.

The Fishy Four gives participants of all ages a chance to get those legs revved up for a weekend of Liberty Fest fun and to support the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Scholarship Foundation as all race proceeds go directly to scholarships for graduates of Chetek-Weyerhaeuser High School for secondary educational needs.

Online preregistration cost is $20 per person before Wednesday, June 26. It is then $25 on Friday, July 5, the evening before the race, or $25 at the race on Saturday. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. on July 6. Only 100 entrants will be registered that morning, and all participants must be registered by 7:30 a.m. Visit for preregistration details.

There will be on-site preregistration at 5–7pm on July 5 at the Chetek City Beach pavilion. Those who have preregistered will be able to pick up their T-shirt and bib, or individuals may preregister for the race. Watch for opportunities to register online; online registration closes at midnight on June 26.

A special half-mile race will be held for children 10 and under at 8 a.m. with a $10 preregistration fee, $15 the night before and the day of the event. All participants of the kids’ race will receive a medal and a T-shirt.

Visit the Chetek Fishy Four Run/Walk website or Facebook page for more details as they become finalized. For questions or more information, email or call Dawn Knutson at 715-237-2477.
