The co-op Squirt (U10) hockey teams from the Barron/Chetek and Cumberland youth associations excelled at a Shawano tournament held Friday-Sunday, Jan. 7-9. The A team defeated Kenosha 5-1, Shawano 2-1 and then Manitowoc 6-2 in Sunday’s championship game. In the B team’s bracket, the BCC club defeated Manitowoc 6-1 and tied Elmbrook 5-5. Due to Elmbrook defeating Manitowoc by one less goal (5-1), BCC made the title game against a girls team from Fond du Lac. The Grizzlies trailed 3-2 midway through the first period before the dam broke in a 7-2 loss.
