The 19th annual Heart O’North Bench Press/Deadlift Charity Classic, formerly known as the Golden Bear Bench Press/Deadlift Charity Classic, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Cameron High School in Cameron, beginning at 10 a.m.

People of any age and experience level are encouraged to enter this event. A person can do bench press or deadlift or both. Each person who completes one lift out of three attempts will receive a trophy. Several Best Lifter Award photo plaques will be presented to those who win their respective divisions. Team events are also encouraged. Over 200 participants traditionally come from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan.

Participants need to register by Friday, Dec. 14. The entry fees are $35 for teens and $40 for adults for each event. Entry fees on the meet date will be $50 for teens and adults for each event. A person can do one or both of the lifts. Weigh-ins will be from 6–8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, and 7–8:45 a.m. the day of the meet.

At the conclusion of the deadlift portion of the event, participants and attendants will have the option to participate in a “bench your body weight” contest. Cost is $1 for this event, with the winner taking all.

The primary purposes of this event are to promote the sport of weightlifting to anyone, of any age, and to make this an educational and fun experience for those participating. Proceeds from this event go toward the Barron Area Gifts from the Heart, a charitable organization helping needy children at Christmastime in the greater Barron County area and also to Cameron High School.

Any questions can be directed to meet director Steve Fronk at 715-205-1798 or by email at slfronk@hotmail.com.

The public is encouraged to attend the meet. There is no admission fee.
